We have succesfully managed to survive our time in Australia. No sunburn despite the extreme UV rating, we went in the sea and didn't get eaten by sharks, stung by jellyfish ar left behind. We went to Queensland and didn't get eaten by crocs. No snake bites in the outback or redbacks or funnelwebs in any of the toilets we sat on and we have had a really rather marvellous time.

The things we liked best about Australia include Sydney & the Blue Mountians, the wildlife, learning to surf, Kings Canyon, the reef, the rainforest...er everything really except for the persistant flies and the blazing heat.

We're off to New Zealand tomorrow and are quite excited about that too. Anyone got any tips?

Tip for New Zealnd...avoid street entertainers that make you dance.

Is it true there are no snakes in New Zealand?

Cheers,

James

We'll try to avoid street entertainers, but there's some sort of busking fetival on in Christchurch, so there might be some.

As far as we're aware, there are no snakes or poisonous spiders or anything that'll kill you in Kiwiland.

Tips for NZ:
Do your crazy adventure activities in Taupo rather than Queenstown - much cheaper.
Avoid the LOTR tours - apart from the one to Hobbiton - the whole country is a LOTR set.
So jealous - I Love NZ!!

Thanks Hena!

We were thinking about going to Taupo for adventurous activities for exactly that reason.

We were having a look at the Pelenor fields earlier today, not on an organised tour though...

Actually there are poisonous spiders but they are an endangered species generally found in the grassy sand dunes near the sea, if found at all!

Also very jealous that you're in NZ now, not sure any of my tips would be very up to date but do check out Oamaru.... it's a really happening place.....no really!!! If nothing else the penguins are adorable and well worth visiting. Also great Yellow-eyed and Rockhopper fellas down Dunedin way, which is pretty fun being a varsity town! Lake Wanaka was good for watersports, but as I say loads has probably changed in 10 years! take care and have fun Hxx
Oh yeah loved the jet-boating and go swimming with the seals off Kaikoura.. much better than dolphins!
